lussariWP 1 Cross-border coordination committee.

The activity is transversal to the work packages. The cross-border coordination committee, whose members are representatives of the project partners, indicates and guides the project development and coordinates and verifies the correct development of project activities.

WP 2 Design and development of shared protocols for the monitoring of the Natura 2000 network

Each partner shall organise the recognition of biodiversity indicators, monitoring systems and existing databanks within his own territory. The data collected will then be compared and combined and, by mutual agreement, it will be processed and integrated in order to provide an assessment of the area in question, with a complete overview.

Shared habitat, flora, fauna and social-economic indicators will be identified to be used at the level of the eastern alpine area. Each partner shall integrate the shared indicators with those specific to each area.

Each partner shall verify existing databanks, computer systems and data collection methods used for his own area. These will be processed and integrated on a system level in order to define shared data collection protocols and to monitor habitat, flora, fauna and social-economic matters.

The protocols will be translated into a data entry system that will allow the databanks to communicate and share information.

In order to test the cross-border monitoring methods and data collection system, each partner will carry out specific tests according to the new shared protocols.

WP 3 Preparation of guidelines for the drafting of the Management plans

Each partner identifies pilot areas in his own area and collects the elements required to check their naturalness.

On the basis of the indications supplied by the Commission and authorities of reference, the shared guidelines will be redefined in order to carry out the Risk Analysis and Management plans of the Natura 2000 areas. The manuals will be tested in pilot area.

WP 4 Exchange of management experiences.

Meetings will be organised between the Management body staff of the park or areas of the Natura 2000 network in order to exchange notes on positive and negative experiences in managing the areas of competence.

The most significant positive and negative experiences will be included in a brochure.

WP 5 Creation of a system of natural areas.

Infopoints will be developed in the informative structures of nature parks, in addition to displays, allowing for the illustration of the natural characteristics and specific landscape features of all the areas involved.

The coordinated image of the system will be developed by designing all infopoints and displays with a single graphic look.

WP 6 Optimisation and promotion of the natural areas and their products

Each partner will take note of the specific natural, cultural and agricultural-food features of his own area, along with the informative and tourism structures and services present and will verify any existing promotional materials and area trademarks.

The graphic image of the system and the logo combining the existing trademarks will be designed jointly. The illustrative brochures explaining the characteristics and specific features of the eastern alpine area, themed tourist brochures also focussing on school tourism, flora, fauna and bird watching, culture, traditions and past crafts, local products and food and wine will also be developed jointly, along with the creation of a dedicated website.

In order to promote the area's local services and products, guidelines and shared guidance will be developed to govern the use of area trademarks, such as, for example, the park's trademark, as a guarantee of the genuine nature of a product or environmentally-friendly nature of a service.
